Wall Companies working on "Malcolm Yards" re-development project
March 22, 2017
Finance & Commerce recently published a story about a major re-development project being proposed by Minneapolis based Wall Companies called "Malcolm Yards". Wall Companies owns a 20-acre tract near the Prospect Park Metro station. The property is bounded by the University of Minnesota Transit way to the south, railroad tracks to the the north, Malcolm Ave SE on the east and 29th Ave SE on the west. Early plans call for an indoor climbing facility to be located on a 1.75 acre sub-parcel and renovation of the Harris Machinery Building as a food hall. Other elements include potential office and housing developments. The site includes three vacant grain elevator facilities including the huge, highly recognizable United Crushers tagged structure. Re-use of the elevators isn't currently in the project plans - the new developments will be built around them.
